Hyundai Kona has been launched in the automobile market quite recently. Korean automobile manufacturing companies have always been at the top of the list. Hyundai has a good marketing strategy and has captured the Indian market quite well.
The 2021 version of the Hyundai Kona Electric SUV saw some changes so we are not expecting any major change for the 2022 version. But, we are hoping that the 2022 version will be provided with a few minor updates. Additionally, the Kona is Hyundai’s first SUV that is made available with a full-electric powertrain in the United States of America.
The Hyundai Kona offers amazing techs and features so the manufacturing company will be offering a hot variant in the form of Kona N. The 2022 Hyundai Kona will be made available in five different trim levels: SE, SEL, N Line, Limited, and Kona N.
In today’s automobile market the electric SUV will face fierce competition from other segments like the 2022 Kia Niro, 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV, 2022 Nissan Leaf, 2022 Honda HR-V, and 2022 Nissan Kicks.

2022 Hyundai Kona Electric SUV Engine and Performance
The 2022 version of the Hyundai Kona Electric SUV will continue to feature the same engine as its predecessor. All the electric parts and components present in its previous version will be carried forwarded to the 2022 version. One will get to see the same permanent-magnet synchronous electric engine. Interestingly, the engine of the Electric SUV produces 201 horsepower along with 291 lb-ft of torque.
The 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric SUV will not compromise anything when it comes to its performance. The base version of the Hyundai Kona is fitted with a 2.0-L GDI 4-cylinder engine. The engine present in the base version of the Kona produces 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque.
Additionally, the engine of the model helps the electric SUV to reach 0-60 MPH in just 6.5 seconds. The electric SUV completes its quarter-mile run in just 15.0 seconds with a top speed of 110 miles per hour.

2022 Hyundai Kona Electric Fuel Economy
For the upcoming year model, we are expecting the same MPGe as its predecessor. The 2022 version of Kona will deliver an estimation of 132 MPGe in the city, 108 MPGe on the highway, and 120 MPGe as combined. It has been estimated that the upcoming Kona will have 258 miles of driving range.
The charging time of the 2022 Kona will take 9 hours 15 minutes from 10 to 100 percent. Additionally, Hyundai also claims that if they think of providing a fast charger then that would surely decrease. The manufacturing company also revealed that using a Level-3 charger can charge the Kona Electric from 10 to 80 percent in under 50 minutes.
The MPGe values of its other competitors are given in the table below:-
Models | 2022Hyundai Kona Electric SUV | 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV | 2021 Kia Niro |
MPGe (city) | 132 | 127 | 123 |
