LEXUS UX 300E
Lexus is branching out from hybrid power into full electric vehicles, and the UX SUV is its first effort. The electric UX 300e is very surprisingly the first ever all-electric production machine to come out of the stable and whatever might be said about the future of hybrids, this is definitely a sign of what will be rolling out of Toyota City in the near future.
The automobile is made blissful with the usual UX design recipe, with flared front and rear wings and a shape that’s one of the smaller ones in the premium-badged SUV C-segment which is 4495 mm long, 1520 mm high and 1840 mm wide. Lexus’ brand signature drivetrain refinement and cabin isolation is prominently applied in the vehicle. It features two trim levels: Premium and Takumi Pack with varying features, powertrain and prices.
Interior Design Of Lexus UX 300e
On the inside, the car continues to mirror the rest of the Lexus lineup with its excellent apparent build quality. From the way the air conditioning buttons click, to the damping of the signal stalks and the smooth and quiet operation of the windows as they wind up and down, there’s a sense that everything here is just well-screwed together. The dashboard seems to be a rather busy mesh of lines, surfaces and textures, but all the major controls are exactly where we would expect them to be.
We can get physical air-conditioning as well as seat ventilation controls, and interestingly enough, a CD player. Standard features include driver-focused cockpit with the large, central round instrument and the digital displays which includes speedometer, range display and four-stage delay display.
Exterior Design Of Lexus UX 300e
The UX 300e features the same distinctive signature large front grille, flared front and rear wings and streamlined shape, while adding new special 17-inch aero-ventilating alloy wheels, different badgework and a charging port replacing the fuel filler on the rear pillar. Build quality from the Kyushu Japanese plant is faultless and top models get leather seats that feature the traditional oriental quilting technique. The E version also stands out from the automotive monotony with its pointed headlights, the large radiator grille, sharp beads and black wheel arches .
The lower air inlet has aerodynamic flaps for battery cooling, but is not particularly noticeable. The UX 300e has shutters at the bottom of the lower grille that automatically open and close according to the driving situation. This further improves aerodynamics, increasing the vehicle’s driving range.
Engine And Battery Of Lexus UX 300e
The UX 300e is driven by an electric motor developing 201 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, which makes the electric SUV capable of 0-100 km / h in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 169 km / h. The UX 300e offers a 315 kilometers driving range on a full charge, with the help of its 54.3 kWh lithium-ion battery and single electric motor. If you use a DC rapid charger capable of 50 kW or more, it should be able to top up the UX’s battery from 0-80% in around 50 minutes. Meanwhile, AC charging, which is the type provided by home wallbox charger, is capped at 6.6kW, and takes around eight hours to fully recharge the battery.
The batteries in the electric vehicle are in the body floor and under the rear seat bench. This lowers the center of gravity by seven centimeters and creates an everyday trunk of at least 367 liters. The driver can use the shift paddles behind the steering wheel to vary the strength of the engine brake and thus the recuperation in four modes.
