The Mercedes Benz EQS has started production. The first-ever one was rolled out of the assembly line in Factory 56 of the Daimler group. This factory is in Sindelfingen, Germany. The EQS is a car that is in a class of its own.

Many people have made lines to the model being a competitor to the Tesla models, but at the same time, some others say that Teslas as joy-riding cars, whereas the EQS is a car meant for luxury and comfort. This sedan debuted in April 2021 and had a lot of features in the package.

About The Factory 56

Factory 56 in Sindelfingen also manufactures the Mercedes Benz S-class. It employs almost 1,500 employees, as per reports. The factory is well-equipped with items for the production of the EQS. Reports also suggest that Mercedes invested a significant amount to reduce the emission made during production.

As Jorg Burzer, the Head of Production and Supply Chain Management for Mercedes said, “The future of our global Mercedes-Benz production network begins with the production of the EQS at Factory 56: this future is CO2 neutral, sustainable, fully digitized, connected, and highly flexible. The start of production of the EQS is a highlight in our unprecedented electric vehicle initiative in the area of production”.

Moreover, Mercedes have installed 12,000 photovoltaic panels on the roof to power the facility with 5,000 Megawatts. This new system will help in providing 30% of the total power consumption of the factory.

As for the final confirmation, the EQS will be available in two variants of battery packs. One will have a 107.8 kWh battery pack, whereas the other one will have a 90kWh battery pack. There will also be 2 versions of the car. One being the EQS 450 with 333 horsepower and the EQS 580 4MATIC with 523 horsepower and all-wheel drive.

The models have a range of 700 kilometers, as per the manufacturer. There will also be differences in charging. Mercedes will offer the sedan with fast charging other than the normal 22kW or the 11kW AC configurations.
