One of the world’s well-known car-manufacturer, Mercedes Benz has been slowly making progress towards converting to an all-electric lineup for the future. The latest announcement is that of a concept electric van which can accommodate 7 passengers, named the Mercedes Benz EQT. The model will launch next year, 2022.

This new concept from Mercedes comes as no surprise, as the car manufacturer has been trying to convert its models to electric versions. This new concept vehicle dubbed the EQT is a premium lineup of Mercedes’ vans. The automaker says that the model is “near series production”. This model of EVs is one of the models that the manufacturer is keen on broadening its battery-powered fleet with.

The Mercedes Benz EQT is the all-electric version of their normal small van segment. The EQT and their other electric variants are competitors for manufacturers like Tesla, or BMW. This model will have to compete with Volkswagen’s Microbus, ID Buzz, which might reach showrooms by 2023.

First, and foremost, the Mercedes Benz EQT will be a big vehicle, like the size of your Sedona or Carnival from KIA or the Ford Endeavour, to name some similarly sized vehicles. The EQT will be able to seat 7 passengers and comes with 2 sliding doors.

The presence of an electric longboard which is in a compartment comes with a plexiglass lid, which would appeal to those with very big families who like to go on tours or do some outdoor activities. This model also features 21-inch light-alloy wheels.

The Chief Design Officer of the Daimler Group says, “The Concept EQT is a new, holistic van with the Design DNA of ‘Sensual Purity. Sensuous shapes, elegant trims, and sustainable materials show that this van belongs to our Mercedes-EQ family”.

The Mercedes Benz can become a sensation of a vehicle if the product that Daimler sells is good. Granted, the EQT will have some competitors of its own, even the gas-powered variants. But, it is good to see a company move towards a greener future. Now, all we can do is wait to see the variant that reaches the showrooms.
