One of the world’s well-known car-manufacturer, Mercedes Benz has been slowly making progress towards converting to an all-electric lineup for the future. The latest announcement is that of a concept electric van which can accommodate 7 passengers, named the Mercedes Benz EQT. The model will launch next year, 2022.
This new concept from Mercedes comes as no surprise, as the car manufacturer has been trying to convert its models to electric versions. One key example of this conversion is the upcoming Mercedes Benz EQS, an electric variant of the S-class sedans, learn more about the EQS here – Mercedes-Benz EQS Is The S-Class Among EVs
General Info On The Mercedes Benz EQT
This new concept vehicle dubbed the EQT is a premium lineup of Mercedes’ vans. The automaker says that the model is “near series production”. This model of EVs is one of the models that the manufacturer is keen on broadening its battery-powered fleet with.
The Mercedes Benz EQT is the all-electric version of their normal small van segment. The EQT and their other electric variants are competitors for manufacturers like Tesla, or BMW. This model will have to compete with Volkswagen’s Microbus, ID Buzz, which might reach showrooms by 2023.
“We are expanding our portfolio in the small van segment with the forthcoming T-Class. It will appeal to families and all those private customers, whatever their age, who enjoy leisure activities and need a lot of space and maximum variability without forgoing comfort and style. The T-Class provides them with an attractive introduction to the world of Mercedes-Benz. And as the Concept EQT shows: we are consistently implementing our claim to leadership in electromobility and will also be offering a fully electric model in this segment in the future”, says Mr. Marcus Breitschwerdt, the Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
The Design Of The Mercedes Benz EQT
First, and foremost, the Mercedes Benz EQT will be a big vehicle, like the size of your Sedona or Carnival from KIA or the Ford Endeavour, to name some similarly sized vehicles. The EQT will be able to seat 7 passengers and comes with 2 sliding doors.
The presence of an electric longboard which is in a compartment comes with a plexiglass lid, which would appeal to those with very big families who like to go on tours or do some outdoor activities. This model also features 21-inch light-alloy wheels.
The Chief Design Officer of the Daimler Group says, “The Concept EQT is a new, holistic van with the Design DNA of ‘Sensual Purity. Sensuous shapes, elegant trims, and sustainable materials show that this van belongs to our Mercedes-EQ family”.
The Mercedes Benz can become a sensation of a vehicle if the product that Daimler sells is good. Granted, the EQT will have some competitors of its own, even the gas-powered variants. But, it is good to see a company move towards a greener future. Now, all we can do is wait to see the variant that reaches the showrooms.
