Tata Motors has finally launched its much-anticipated first fully electric car Tata Tigor EV. It is offered in versions like XM and XT and three colors- silver, white and blue. This EV sedan has been designed to target commercial, fleet operators, and private owners in our country. The best part of this car is that it takes advantage of the FAME II subsidy scheme offered by the Indian government on electrically-driven vehicles due to which it attracts an Rs.1.62 lakhs subsidy.
Whereas the Tata brand has won a tender of EESL as well. Tata’s Tigor EV marked headlines in 2017 when the company won this tender to supply 10,000 units of its electric vehicle to the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). Recently, the car came in the news when it became available to the public through car-hire services. However, the company can’t confirm the time frame of this model yet.
The first impression of the Tata Tigor EV is quite impactful. Its engine doesn’t produce any noise. The powertrain is more refined as compared to Mahindra e2O’s. While driving at a slow speed, Tigor EV glides along well and the driver gets the experience of driving a smooth automatic transmission-loaded conventional car. Even on the busy roads, the Tigor EV manages to go smoothly with the traffic.
