In the design segment, the Tata Nexon completely overshadows the Tigor EV. Nexon seems to be more muscular and bulkier in looks than Tigor. Nexon has a ground clearance of 205 mm whereas Tigor has 170 mm. The Tata Nexon offers a better interior design with dark edition it looks classier, the material used in the interior of Nexon is more premium, boot space of 350 liters is more as in Tigor it is 316. Rear-seat space is more than the Tigor EV. Both have a 7-inch display, stereo powered by Harmon, LED lights, auto-folding ORVMs, and a rear camera for parking.

Both cars have the same length of 3993 mm, the width of Nexon is 1811 mm as compared to Tigor which is 1677, the height of Nexon is also more than Tigor 2498 mm, and 2450 mm respectively. Optional sunroof, alloys, and leatherette interiors are offered only in Nexon EV.

The steering of both cars is electric steering. Front suspension is Independent MacPherson Strut with Coil Spring and rear suspension is Twist Beam with dual-path Strut in both cars. The tire size of Tigor EV is 175/65/R14 with steel rims and Nexon EV comes with 215/60/R16 steel rims in lower models, in the Top model offers alloys.

Both cars offer digital instrumental clusters, distance to empty meter, trip meter, door not closed warning, and rear parking sensors. Additional features of Tata Nexon are a tachometer, emergency call, remote AC control via app, car unlock via the app, voice command, and vanity mirrors.

Both cars have disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear. The driver’s seat in Nexon is 6-way adjustable while in the Tigor it is 8-way adjustable. Co-driver seat is 6-way adjustable in both cars. Nexon has foldable rear seats while Tigor lacks this feature. Tigor offers power windows in front only whereas Nexon has all power windows. Nexon offers one touchdown and up feature as well.It is to keep in mind that some of the features which are not available in Tigor come in the top model of this car.

Tata Tigor EV comes with a 55-kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which gives the power of 74.7 PS and 170 Nm of torque. It takes 5.7 seconds to reach the speed of 0-60.

Tata Nexon EV comes with a 3-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which gives the power of 129 PS and 245 Nm of torque. It takes 9.9 seconds to reach the speed of 0-100.

Both cars offer a top speed of 120 km/h and both are front-wheel-drive cars.

Both cars come with all basic safety features. Both cars come with a connected suite, powered by Tata’s iRA unlock. According to tata, Nexon offers 35+ features and Tigor offers 30+ features through the connected car app which includes remote commands, vehicle health, safety and security, driving analytics, and many more.

Both cars are provided with 2 airbags, seat belt warning, child lock, speed warning, and anti-theft Engine immobilizer. The Nexon has additional features of a speed-sensing door lock, Anchor points for Child Seats, and a puncture repair kit.

Nexon EV has scored a 5-star rating and Tigor has scored a 4-star rating in the crash test.

Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 26-kWh lithium-ion battery and tata Nexon is powered by a 30.2-kWh lithium-ion battery. The company claims a range of 306kms with Tigor EV and 400Kms with Nexon EV. Whereas in the real world as per customers’ reviews Tigor EV’s range is about 210-240kms and Nexon EV’s range is about 300-340kms.

Both EVs offer various driving modes like drive mode and sports mode. The range and the power delivery change with different modes. Nexon EV takes 8.5 hours to charge 90% from 10% battery from a 15-plug point and 60 minutes to 0 to 80% from a fast charger. Tigor EV takes 8.75 hours to charge 80% from 10% battery from a 15-plug point and 65 minutes to 0 to 80% from a fast charger.

Tata Tigor EV was the first EV of Tata Motors. Tigor is a sedan class car and it is the most affordable EV in India. Whereas the Tata Nexon is an SUV class car and is currently the favorite EV of Indian buyers.

The base price of the Tata Tigor EV is starting from 12.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and the top model of this car costs about 13.39 lakh. Some of the states are providing subsidies to EV cars that make the most affordable EV even more affordable. While the base model of Nexon EV costs about 14.54 lakh and the top model is about 17.15 lakh.

Both cars target different segments Tigor is more city drive oriented and budget-friendly whereas Tata Nexon EV is more capable in driving sense and is a more feature-rich and premium looking car. Considering the price of both and the features they offer we can see Tata Nexon EV completely outclasses the Tata Tigor EV in almost every sense and the price gap isn’t that big as much as the feel of the EV varies. If you are on a very tight budget and looking for an EV no doubt Tigor is a good option to consider but if you can stretch a little bit, you should go for Nexon EV.
