Tesla Extends Six More Months To Start Production In Germany

CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk allows six more months for the German team to start production in its German factory, reported the German weekly – Automobilwoche, mentioning company sources. The factory lies on the outskirts of Berlin. This German factory of Tesla will be their first Gigafactory in Europe.

Inversely, a Tesla spokesperson denied commenting on the report. Rather, the spokesperson referred to the preceding month’s official statement. In this statement, Tesla plans to start production at the Grünheide Gigafactory by the end of 2021. Tesla had plans to start production on the 1st of July. Inversely, the plans to build a battery cell factory also were delayed.

The Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheid in Germany is the first Tesla Gigafactory in Europe. It is the fourth Gigafactory for Tesla. The others being located in – Nevada, US; New York, US; Shanghai, China, and in Texas, Austin.

The upcoming Gigafactory in Germany will be manufacturing the Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Telsa 4680, and Tesla Model 2 in the near distant future. The site mostly will employ about 10,000 employees for its functioning.

Fun Fact – The German Gigafactory might have a mega rave cave underneath it. This suggestion was suggested and confirmed by Elon Musk himself!

The Reason?

The official reason for this delay is unknown to people. But just last month, Tesla had criticized the lengthy processes in Germany, noting that the approval framework “directly contradicts the urgency to plan and realize such projects that are necessary to battle climate change”.
