Kapil Shelke, the founder and CEO of Tork Motors launched two electric bikes on 26 January 2022. The event was very much alike to the event of Ola Electric and Simple Energy which introduced new wagons on the previous Independence day. Literally, this venture is the company’s second entry into the electric two-wheeler space in India. Because, this Pune-based establishment already has introduced its first electric motorcycle based on the T6X concept on September 30, 2016. It costs around Rs 1.25 lakh and offered a claimed range of 100 km on a single charge, thus performing just as a 200 cc petrol-powered bike.

After six years of toil, with the back-up of big business tycoons like Bharat Forge and Ola cab founder, Bhavish Aggarwal, Tork Motors has launched one standard version, Tork Kratos, and the powerful variant named, Tork Kratos R.

As we mentioned earlier, standard Kratos and Kratos R are based on the T6X model. Now, they came onto market with a variety of colors after 6 years, whereas the regular one is restricted to sole white color scheme. But, the array of colors for Kratos R is white, red, blue, and black. They are structured with a trellis frame and the least distance between the lower end of the vehicle body and road is measured to be 165 mm( Ground clearance), even though the battery pack is placed at the bottom. The alloy wheels of 17 inches are rounded with tubeless tire and both these electric two-wheelers have a carrying capacity of 150kg.

Tork company succeeded in designing their own brand-new motor debuted with Axial Flux Technology in which the maximum power in Regular Kratos is 7.5 kW and the powerful variant output peak power of 9.0 kW. But, the less powerful 7.5 kW motor is ideal for developing 5.36 hp and peak torque of 28 Nm and the robust one of 9.0 kW puts down a 6 hp and maximum torque of 38 Nm.

Both these e-vehicles can boast an IDC range of 180 km and a real range of 120 km on a single charge itself. If we are focusing on the performance level of Regular Kratos and Kratos R, the standard variant delivers the claimed top speed of 100 kmph whereas, the energetic one runs with the highest speed of 105 kmph. Also, the Regular Kratos can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 4 seconds and the R variant in 3.5 seconds respectively.

The motor is powered by a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a voltage of 48V and it is appreciable that the company itself dared to build their own battery-package called Tork LION. Its viable operation even during fluctuating weather conditions make it to keep the IP67 certification and it promises to deliver a range of 180 km on a single charge under optimal conditions.

Kratos and Kratos R come with both home chargers and fast chargers. They could get fully charged in four to five hours using a regular home charging unit. As the R variant possesses fast charging capability, it can strike up to 80 % of charge by taking less than one hour. These fast-charging centers are at leading spots like Lonavala and Lavasa. The company even offers an application called Tork Mobile app to locate these rapidly charging destinations.

Tork Motors launched Regular Kratos at an effective price of Rs 1.92 lakh and 2.07 lakh for Kratos R, however, the Fame ll subsidy and Government subsidies helped much to pin down the price to Rs 1.08 lakh and Rs 1.23 lakh respectively, which are the ex-showroom prices at Pune.

The official website of the company has opened for pre-booking facility and it is announced that the delivery will commence by April of this year 2022 in a phased-wise manner. In phase l, the company aims at supplying these e-bikes at 6 major cities in the country like Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Delhi. Then, in Phase ll, the supply will be extended to 100 cities in PAN India.
