Upcoming EVs To Launch In India In 2021

EVs or electric cars are the movement of people to a cleaner source of energy. It is the future of transportation. So, as people like to plan and develop for the future, car manufacturers also want to develop for the future. So, they introduce electric vehicles now and then, to make a gradual conversion to EVs.

Electric vehicles, in general, are environmentally friendly, and at the same time allow you to last a long distance depending on the model and different scenarios. So, carmakers are constantly on the move to make EVs.

One of the largest automobile markets is in India. The Indian automotive market is huge because people want different vehicles, and the demand is high. Meaning that due to the sheer population of India, and the demand for vehicles, it is a good market.

EVs will have to enter the automotive market in India to make it big. So, some manufacturers have or will introduce their EVs in India. Here are some EVs that are due to come in 2021 in India.

Audi e-Tron

Audi, one of the most well-known car manufacturers will be debuting their Audi e-Tron in India in 2021. The e-Tron will be the first-ever EV launch from the company in India.  Two variants, that is the e-Tron and the e-Tron Sportback will make their debut.

Mercedes-Benz EQS

Mahindra eKUV 100

Mahindra, an Indian car manufacturer will also be entering the EV market in India with their Mahindra eKUV 100. The vehicle was in the showcase at the Auto Expo 2020. This model might be the most affordable EV, which might go for 8.25 Lakhs or $11,200 or £7,900.

This EV will feature a 40kW battery which can generate 53 brake horsepower and 120 Nm of peak torque. The vehicle most likely will come with a single-speed transmission. The car with its transmission will send its power to all 4-wheels too. As per data, the range of the car is 120 kilometers.

Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is one of the more sporty EVs that is going to be available in the market. This sports car is a part of Porsche’s Mission E Concept. Mission E is to develop an AR simulation of the EVs of Porsche with the help of Google. This concept is intended to drive people to buy EVs and transition to electric vehicles.

Tata Altroz EV

Tata, another Indian car manufacturer will introduce their all-electric version of the Tata Altroz, a model that also has a gas-powered variant.

Tesla, the forefront of EV tech and the most valuable car manufacturing company will introduce their vehicles in India. The Tesla Model 3 is already a well-known and tested EV in many other countries. Tesla has already made plans to have their headquarters in Mumbai and the production of these EVs in Karnataka.

Volvo, the manufacturers of the world’s safest cars is making their EV debut in India with the Volvo XC40 Recharge. As per reports, the model will be available for sale from October 2021. The vehicle will come as a CBU, or as a Completely Built Unit, meaning that process will be high.

EVs in India are a good chance in the Indian automotive market, which is fairly dominated by Maruti Suzuki. Granted, it will take time for people to transition to an EV, as the infrastructure must be built up. Together with that, electric prices are an unknown factor.
