Peugeot e-1008 Challenges Volkswagen And Renault

Stellantis who owns the French company Peugeot has plans of launching a city-focused Electric-SUV according to the reports by French publication L’Argus.

The SUV is titled be Peugeot-1008 which is under development for Brazil. It is expected to be the EV variant, reliable and eco-friendly in Nature. It is expected to be called the “Peugeot e-1008”. The design of the Peugeot 1008 has not been finalized yet but it is expected to reach the European Markets for the entry segment.

Design of Peugeot e-1008:

The Peugeot 1008 has been given the codename Peugeot P44.

It is expected that the Peugeot 1008 will come with a box-like square design, with conventional SUV measurements.

Raised Ground clearance is also expected to give the car a Tough and Powerful look and enhance and expand Its interior volume. The design points to the fact that it will compete with the Jeep 516 and its EV variant respectively.

It is reported that CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares directed the Peugeot design director, Matthias Hossann to modify the designs which were created during Gilles Vidal’s time who was the Ex-Design director of Stellantis and now is the Vice President of Design for the Renault brand.

Power & Efficiency of Peugeot e-1008:

The Peugeot e-1008 will run on the e-CMP (Common Modular Platform) which will also be used for the Peugeot e-2008. The e-1008 being small in size and being affordable in price will have a compact battery and a less powerful motor and will feature modifications in the platform to achieve the affordable price. An example of this is that e-2008 uses a 50-kWh battery pack that enables a range of 310 km/193 miles (WLTP) and a front-mounted motor generating 100 kW (136 PS) of power and 260 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the targeted range (WLTP) for the e-1008 could be around 250 km/155 miles.

The “P44” is a part of the Global “smart cars” program and may bear similarities with the Citroen e-CC21, which is expected to arrive in the year 2022.

Launch Date of Peugeot e-1008:

The Peugeot E-1008 is still around 4 years away from making its debut in the market. It is scheduled to arrive in the year 2025. Although a concept version could be launched before that by the year 2023.

Features expected to be in the car include an intuitive multimedia system, connected car features, DC fast-charging, pared-down turning radius, and a low TCO.

Moreover, it is expected to hit the market with 2 types of versions- including a cargo utility version for last-mile deliveries and a passenger model for personal mobility.
