Pure EV, a firm based in Hyderabad and incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology, released its high-speed electric scooter, the Pure EPluto 7G, on Sunday for Rs 79,999. (Ex-showroom). This scooter, according to the EV manufacturer, will have a longer range, a max speed of 60 kmph, and a battery warranty of 40,000 kilometers. The vehicle was unveiled on the IIT Hyderabad campus by V K Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog, G Satheesh Reddy, Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and Prof B S Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, according to a business announcement.

V K Saraswat, a member of the NITI Aayog, commented on the launch, saying,

“E-mobility is a rapidly growing industry that is also one of the most disruptive. We’re not just looking at the transportation side; we’re also looking at the supply chain. The startup is providing a significant amount of value, which is really laudable.”

The battery, according to the firm, is a unique feature of this vehicle, and it was built and developed with Indian terrain and weather conditions in mind. At its campus-based plant, the company has a monthly manufacturing capacity of 2,000 units. 

The firm also stated that by 2020, it plans to have more than 10,000 electric vehicles on the road. Pure EV has opened a 40,000-square-foot facility in Hyderabad, which is co-located with IIT Hyderabad, for cutting-edge research and large-scale production of electric vehicles and batteries, according to the company.
