2022 Tesla Model Y Electric Preview

Tesla, the famous electric American automobile manufacturing company introduced the Tesla Model Y in 2019. The Model Y is an all-electric compact crossover utility vehicle. The first production of this all-electric model started in the Fremont plant. We could say that the 2022 Tesla Model Y is quite new to the automobile market.

Tesla, as a company is known for serving the most advanced set of driving features to its manufactured cars. The Model Y also features quite the same advanced set of driving features. Interestingly, the upcoming Model Y will be coming with more advanced features. Some of the advanced features are self-parking, an autopilot semi-autonomous driving system, and many more.

The 2022 version of the Tesla Model Y will not face any major updates from the manufacturing company. Still, we are expecting some minor changes to the interior of the model. The 2022 Model Y will be made available in two different trim levels and they are Performance and Long Range. Some sources have revealed that the upcoming Model Y will feature a larger battery as compared to its predecessor.

Today, the Model Y will face fierce competition from other segments like the 2022 Jaguar I-Pace, 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, and 2022 Audi E-Tron.

Engine and Performance of 2022 Tesla Model Y

Most Tesla-manufactured cars are built above a strong and rigid platform. We could expect the same for the upcoming Tesla Model Y. The platform of the model will be built with a blend of steel and aluminum. This is one of the reasons why Tesla-manufactured models are highly safer than any other electric models in the automobile industry.

2022 Tesla Model Y Trims

The upcoming Model Y will just be a carry-over model. We are going to expect the same permanent magnet synchronous and induction AC Motors. This powerful engine of the Model Y can burn out 384 hp along with 376 lb-ft of torque.

Most electric cars from Tesla come with huge power and torque output. The Model Y will feature the same 75 kWh battery inside. The single-speed direct-drive transmission of the model helps that power to equally distribute to all of its wheels. Interestingly, both the trim levels of the Model Y feature the same engine and transmission configuration.

The strong chassis and body material of the Model Y maintain good body control over rough surfaces. The interior is quiet when the model is running at its top speed. The model reaches from 0-60 MPH in just 4.8 seconds and completes its quarter-mile in just 12.04 seconds. Interestingly, the model completes its quarter-mile run with a top speed of 113.05 miles per hour.

Though the Audi E-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace cost more than the Tesla Model Y they are not fast enough to beat the Model Y. Unfortunately, the Tesla Model Y outcomes the lowest torque than any other model in the segment. The Jaguar I-Pace is the most powerful of all in the segment with 394 horsepower followed by the Tesla Model Y. The electric engine of the Jaguar I-Pace helps it to reach from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds which is 0.3 seconds faster than the Tesla Model Y.

Most Tesla models are always known for providing better MPGe figures on all road conditions. Ever since the Model Y was introduced, it delivered great MPGe figures on all road conditions. Unfortunately, the Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace with a great price tag do not offer MPGe figures as the Tesla Model Y. The Tesla Model Y seems to be way ahead of any of its competitors in the segment. The MPGe figures offered by the Tesla Model Y cannot be defeated by any competitors in the market. Additionally, the overall range provided by the Tesla Model Y is way ahead of any of its competitors in the segment. On the other hand, the Jaguar I-Pace offers slightly better MPGe figures as compared to the Audi E-Tron.
