Audi e-tron is more of a conventional Audi. This is an electric car that would impress buyers at the first instance and provoke them to jump over it. Audi calls this car a ‘concept clarity’.

Tesla Model X looks different, the Jaguar I-Pace looks like an SUV, both of them have attracted buyers all over the world. But Audi broke all records and has come up with a car that everyone would see with eyes and mouth-open when the driver will ride it on the road. 

Further models are in pipeline on electric platforms at Audi. The upcoming e-tron GT is based on Porsche’s Taycan. Audi and Porsche are working together to come up with an all-new electric platform called PPE.

Electric cars are increasingly in demand these days. So, most car manufacturers including Audi, have turned their focus on producing EVs. Audi’s e-tron is the company’s entry into the electrified vehicles. 

Audi e-tron is a nice car, a lot quieter and smoother than its rivals.  It comes with selectable driving modes: Off-road, Efficient, and Dynamic.  

Audi e-tron can accommodate five people at a time. There is no option for seven seats. Its boot space is 605-litre. The key features include an adaptive air suspension, 360-degree camera, LED headlights, keyless entry and charging ports on both sides of the car. Side cameras are a good option to replace mirrors- Honda e and Lexus ES offer camera mirrors, but the e-tron got them first.

Audi’s e-tron comes equipped with impressive technology, its electrified systems. The five-seater crossover with cutting-edge technology has a practical cabin. 

The dashboard looks interesting with multiple display screens including Virtual Cockpit, Audi’s digital gauge cluster, and two flush-mounted display screen (touchscreens) in the center.

There are so many upscale options like head-up display, massager at the front seats, underfloor battery pack, and many more. The best thing about this car is it comes with a spacious cargo space measuring 29 cubic feet behind the back row. The regular e-tron can keep up to 8 suitcases behind its rear seats—one more than the sports version. 

10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top and an 8.8-inch display below it gives complete information to the driver. The upper screen allows you to access the standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto apps, the Bang & Olufsen audio system, and the bottom screen has been installed to control the climate. 

Engine Performance of Audi e-tron

e-tron’s sturdy body is driven by two electric motors, one located at the front axle and the other at the rear. Both of them combined provide electronic all-wheel drive. In normal conditions, this car generates a maximum power of 355 horsepower and maximum torque of 414 lb-ft.  But in Sport mode, power reaches 402 ponies and torque 490 lb-ft.

Initially, it may feel that e-tron is swift and well-designed. It is different from other electric vehicles available in the market. The smooth and noise-free ride confirmed that it is a luxury car. Its stopping system blended its traditional brakes with the regenerative braking system. The e-tron contains traditional SUV features with the capacity to tow up to 4000 pounds.

The normal e-tron has an estimated driving range of 222 miles, and the Sportback version has 218 miles. Every e-tron can charge with 150.0-kW DC fast-chargers that allow it to charge almost 80% in just 30 minutes. Those using conventional charging mode using a 240-volt outlet can leave it overnight to charge the battery for up to nine hours.

Safety in Audi e-tron

2021 e-tron and Sportback, both of them received a five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but none of them have been sent for Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) evaluation. 

Audi e-tron comes equipped with tons of driver-assistance features like driver assistance technology. The other key safety features incorporated in this family car are adaptive cruise control, self-parking assist, forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and much more to ensure the safety of passengers.

Price of Audi e-tron

It is expected to arrive with a price tag of Rs 1.50 crore and the company is planning to launch it in February 2021.

Audi just converted its family SUV into electric. The Audi e-tron may look like a dream, it may not look different from the crowd. That’s is the strength of this electric car aimed at drawing the attention of those interested in an electric car. Audi e-tron may look pricier than its equivalent diesel SUV, but it will save a considerable sum of money spent on fueling it in long run.
